What does Healthy and Bright look like?

HEALTHY MOVEMENT. BRIGHT MIND.

Two simple ideas. We all want it and how do we know when we get there? Hint - health and brightness looks different for ALL of us but when we have it, we know. We wear it well. People notice and are drawn to us. We show up better and… it simply hits different! I’ve noticed that when I am tapped into healthy movement and a bright mind, inspiring people in the community and beyond show up and invite me to participate in meaningful things. It’s like a magnet.

This month, that magnetism has looked like:

(1) Corporate leaders and coaches finding me. I was invited to teach employees simple and practical meditation and movement hacks that can be applied in the moment, in 5 minutes or less, to interrupt stress and anxiety in the workspace. We’ve had a ton of fun at these sessions. It feels natural, playful and filled with flow.

(2) Selling out/hosting a retreat in one of my favorite places in Montana with a group that couldn’t have been better even if I had handpicked them. Also the official launch of On Point Yoga Adventures, the yoga adventure company I launched with my dear friend, Lauren Dunne. It’s a lot of extremely fulfilling work and a chance to share yoga, sound healing and meditation in unique destinations that have captured our imaginations.

(3) Collaborating with incredible organizations and corporations like Girl, Get After It and Lululemon, as a brand ambassador, to create a meaningful event for Breast Cancer Awareness that is happening later this month.

*I’m going to briefly interrupt the main topic of this blog to talk about this a bit more - Did you know that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime? That a woman's risk of breast cancer doubles if she has a first-degree relative who has been diagnosed? And that about 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of the disease? As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor I think about this stuff all the time. Not just about my own health but about my daughter’s health AND about how to show up as a powerful support for my mom. Note - If you have questions about how NOT to show up powerfully in that role, ask me! I made a ton of mistakes as I learned how to do better. Luckily my mom is powerful, awesome and extremely patient woman who loved me through all my fear, arrogance, self-absorption and unhelpful “help” until I learned how to love her better through her experience. This will be just part of the messy and meaningful community conversation we will have on October 20th. Check the link to get your spot. Bring the special women in your life with you. This is SO important!

Ok…. Back to healthy and bright….

What’s most amazing about the above it that it has all had flow. And I get to put attention on what matters to me. My body and movement has felt healthy. My mind has felt bright. And it’s been mostly about letting go of things that felt forced. About doing less versus more.

I hope to see you at an upcoming event, retreat or at the 406 Yoga Conference later this month. I’ll be there teaching yoga teachers how to reconnect to their spark. Hint… we’ll be talking about doing LESS and Trying easy there too! It’s the theme of my life lately and I can’t wait to share with you.
